24 – 48 Hour Holter Monitor

A Holter monitor is a small wearable device that records the heart’s rhythm. It provides information on your heartbeat, detecting if it is regular, irregular, too fast or too slow. It is done by placing 5 small electrodes (sticky dots) on the chest, wires attached to the electrodes connect it to the Holter monitoring device. It is a small device about the size of a mobile phone and battery operated. It is done usually in cases where the ECG does not provide sufficient details of the heart’s condition. It can identify patients at risk of stroke from irregular heart rhythm and those that may need a pacemaker inserted.
